Inquiry on the NDIS Implementation and Provision of Disability Services in NSW
On 21 June, the NSW Government has established an Upper House inquiry to examine the provision of disability services in NSW and the implementation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
According to the Inquiry's Terms of Reference, the inquiry will report on the below topics:
- implementation of the NDIS (measuing success in providing choice and control for people with disability);
- experience of people with complex care and support needs in developing, reviewing and accessing their plans;
- accessibility of early intervention supports for children;
- effectiveness and impact of privatising government-run disability services;
- provision of support services, including accommodation services, for people with disability regardless of their eligbility for the NDIS;
- adequacy of current regulations and oversight mechanisms in relation to disability service providers;
- workforce issues impacting delivery of disability services;
- challenges and sustrainability of disability service providers;
- incidents where inadequate disability supports impacted other community services (e.g. justice and health services);
- policies, regulation or oversight mechanisms that could improve the provision and accessibility of disability services across NSW; and
- any other related matter.
The committee welcomes submissions. However, please note that the process is not a forum to resolve individual grievances or cases.
You can make submissions by 09 August 2018, with public hearings to take place in September and October.
