Since the inception of the NDIS, the Scheme has seen a dramatic increase in participant numbers over the last six years, leaping from 30,000 to 280,000 members since July 2016 and spanning across all regions throughout Australia with the exception of Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands. 

The NDIS has benefitted participants and practitioners in a number of ways, assisting members reach their goals and helping generate more employment opportunities for practioners within the sector.

It is expected that up to an estimated 500,000 people will benefit from the NDIS at Full Scheme.

NDIS acting CEO, Vicki Rundle noted on how more and more Australians are gaining access to NDIS support.
