Inquiries announced on psychosocial disability and on the National Disability Strategy
Two important inquiries have been announced concerning the NDIS and the National Disability Strategy.
The Joint Parliamentary Standing Committee on the NDIS is calling for submissions on the provision of services under the NDIS for people with psychosocial disability. The inquiry will consider:
the eligibility criteria for the NDIS for people with psychosocial disability
the transition to the NDIS of Commonwealth government-funded mental health services, including the Personal Helpers and Mentors services (PHaMs) and Partners in Recovery (PIR); and whether these services will continue to be provided for people deemed ineligible for the NDIS
the transition to the NDIS of state government-funded mental health services; and whether these services will be provided for people who are ineligible for the NDIS
funding for mental health services under the Information, Linkages and Capacity building framework
the NDIS planning process for people with psychosocial disability
whether spending on services for people with a psychosocial disability is in line with projections
outreach services to identify potential NDIS participants with a psychosocial disability
forensic disability services

A second inquiry, conducted by a Senate Committee, will examine the delivery of outcomes under the National Disability Strategy 2010-20. It will consider:
access to the built environment, including commercial premises, housing, public spaces and amenities; transport services and infrastructure; and communication and information systems
potential barriers to progress or innovation and how these might be removed
the participation of people with disability in economic, cultural, social, civil and political life
