Tas COVID-19 update: Boosters now required and masks for accommodation settings

Boosters mandated

From 1 April 2022, disability workers in Tasmania will be required to have a booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine, within four weeks of becoming eligible, to be considered fully vaccinated.

This follows other states who have already included boosters in their vaccination requirements.

Masks for indoor settings

Another modification to the Public Health Act has included new mask wearing requirements

Masks are now to be worn in supported accommodation settings by disability workers (except for residents of the accommodation). These are considered to be high-risk settings for transmission.

In addition, workers must wear a mask when providing disability support services in an indoor setting.

These changes were made to the Public Health Act on 11 March.

Members are asked to get in touch if they have any queries or concerns.

Further information about COVID-19 and disability is available at the Tasmania Government website.
