FREE: Risk enablement in the context of supported decision making

NSW Public Guardian, FACs and La Trobe University have partnered to roll out training to the disability sector on Risk Enablement.  Supporting people with disabilities to take positive risks aligns with living a normal life but sometimes raises ethical dilemmas for workers.  The risk enablement framework developed by La Trobe provides guidance on how to think about and approach risk in order to uphold people’s human rights.

This interactive workshop will run over one full day and is suitable for front line staff and management. La Trobe university also has a e-learning course that compliments this training.

Course Objectives

You will learn how to:

  • Build the ability of people with disability to make their own decisions
  • Apply effective steps for providing support for decision making

The training will be considered in the context of the NDIS and incoming Aged Care Standards.
