SEXUALITY MATTERS! Part A: Provide rights based sexuality supports (27-28 November 2018)

This workshop will help disability sector workers gain essential knowledge, skills and resources for supporting people with disability in the area of sexuality, relationships and reproductive and sexual health. This is a nationally-recognised training (RTO Code 90255).


This is a two-day course. Participants who successfully complete the workplace based assessment in the months following the training will be awarded a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment (CHCEDU003 Provide sexual and reproductive health information to clients). Attendance at this course will enable participants to go on to complete Sexuality Matters! Part B: Design and deliver a sexuality education program.

Course content

  • Using a holistic model of sexuality
  • The impact of societal values of the sexuality of people with intellectual disability
  • Sexual and reproductive rights
  • Building health literacy 
  • Applying a person-centred approach
  • Useful strategies and resources in providing sexuality and relationships information
  • Working effectively with parents and families
