Changes to Help NDIS Participants Gain Employment

Minister for Families and Social Services, Paul Fletcher has annouced that National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants will now have better access to employment support funding in their plans.

According to the Minister, participants can now activate employment supports as soon as they find a job, instead of waiting for their next plan review. Local Area Coordinators (LACs) and planners will be be given further training in order to help them discuss employment options with participants. He also advised that changes will be made to ensure employment support is provided to participants who work in Australian Disability Enterprise.

In line with this, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) will host the ‘Let’s Talk About Work’ webinar on Thursday, 21 February 2019, for participants, families, and carers. This free webinar will provide more information on supports available to help participants achieve their employent goals.
