Department of Communities release updated guidelines on restrictive practices

The Department of Communities has released updated procedure guidelines on restrictive practices in NDIS-funded disability services (Stage Two). They can be read or downloaded from the Authorisation of Restrictive Practices Resources webpage in pdf or Word versions.

The WA Government is committed to the reduction and elimination of the use of restrictive practices for people with disability in the state.

The Department of Communities’ approach to reduction and elimination of restrictive practices is centred on Positive Behaviour Support that focuses on improving the quality of life for people with disability and their families.

Information sessions about these updates will be held for disability service providers and behaviour support practitioner in October.

These free 60-minute sessions will cover:

  • an overview of key changes that have been made to improve clarity for providers and practitioners in policy implementation
