Free Resource App for Home Modifications

With the rollout of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), people with disability now have better control over what they choose to spend their funds on, including home modifications. To save money, some opt for Do It Yourself (DIY) projects.

The DIYmodify App is a free smart phone application that people with disability, or even seniors, can use to assist them in planning and making decisions for home modifications.

The App was developed by The University of New South Wales, and funded by the NSW Government through Family and Community Services, Ageing Disability and Home Care, together with the Home Modification Information Clearinghouse (HMinfo).

Through the app, users can access information and support on things like:

  • Things to check and lookout for;
  • Saftey tips and hacks;
  • Product solutions and options;
  • Skills required for undertaking a specific project;
  • What to measure before going shopping; and
  • Videos of people who have undertaken their own home modifications.

The free DIYmodify App can be downloaded to smart phones via:

  • Apple Store - iPhone or iPad
  • Google Play - Android Phone or Tablet

Go to the Home Modification Information Clearinghouse (HMinfo) website to read more information or download additional fact sheets.
