Government announces funding to make Australia more inclusive

The Minister for Social Services Dan Tehan MP and Assistant Minister for Social Services and Disability Services Jane Prenntice MP have announced the Federal Government's $56 million commitment to fund more projects that will make Australia more disability-inclusive.

Through the National Disability Insurance Agency’s (NDIA) Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) Program, projects will be funded to improve the lives of people with disability who are in hard-to-reach communities (e.g. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people), remote regions, as well as culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) populations.

Examples of projects:

  • Training package to help people with disability participate in cricket at a local club in South Australia;
  • Expansion of popular NSW Gig Buddies program that enables people with disability to attend concerts and social events; and
  • Virtual hub for women and girls with ability to access information on decision-making, leadershi, sexual and reproductive health, and prevention of violence.
