Introducing the NDIS Participant Employment Strategy

NDIS Minister, Stuart Robert is leading the way for the NDIS's first Participant Employment Strategy - a new initiative to grant better opportunities for employment seekers with a disability by way of providing them with tailored supports and removing the obstacles that prevent them finding work. By 30 June 2023, Minister Robert aims to see to it that up to 30% of participants are employed.

Running over the course of the next three years, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) will be making efforts to make employment opportunities more accessible to people with a disability and support them in achieving their aims within the workforce.

The Strategy Includes 5 Primary Areas of Focus:

  • Boosting participant participant goals and aspirations in their NDIS plans.
  • Increase options and control for participants in relation to seeking employment.
  • A raised number for marketing innovations that better the chances of finding paid work.
  • Boosting confidence of employers to employ NDIS participants.
  • Leading by example as an employer.

The Participant Employment Taskforce, which was started in 2018 by the Australian Government shared the same goal of granting people with disability more support to assist them with finding work.
