NDIS rollout continues in the new year

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) continues to rollout in new regions across three Australian states, according to the NDIS website.

From 1 January 2018, people in the following areas and age groups gained access to the scheme:

  • Tasmania (people aged 29 to 34 years old)
  • Queensland (Rockhampton, Gladstone and west to the borders regions of Queensland)
  • South Australia (people aged 18 to 64 years in Eyre Western, Far North, Fleurieu and Kangaroo Island, Southern Adelaide, Yorke and Mid North regions)

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is working with local community partners to assist new participants in navigating NDIS.

After the new areas' rollout completion, the expected number of participants will be:

  • Tasmania - 10,600
  • Queensland (Rockhampton, Gladstone and west to the borders regions of Queensland) - 4,900
  • South Australia - 32,300
