New Active Support Resources
Family and Community Services NSW have released a range of new resources on their website to assist Disability Support Workers to implement Active Support. According to their website, "Active Support is a way for people with disability to engage in meaningful everyday activities of their choice, with the amount of support they need."
Resources available include one-minute, penny- dropping videos on Active Support:
- Understanding those who may have higher support needs
- Active Support - Connecting with others - Understanding those who may communicate through behaviour
- Active Support - Connecting in the Community - Help the community understand how to engage with people with disability in the community. (This video was recently shown at the Human Rights Arts and Film Festival and Cronulla Stadium.)
- Inclusion for everyone - A video about accepting all people for who they are.
