New resources to support people with younger onset dementia

Dementia Australia, with funding from the NSW Department of Family and Community Services has created new resources to help carers and people with younger onset dementia--those diagnosed under the age of 65--navigate the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

The NDIS Toolkit for People Living with Younger Onset Dementia and their Carers provides information and guidance on applying for the NDIS, and preparing to develop an NDIS plan.

The toolkit also includes:

  • Case studies;
  • NDIS planning checklist;
  • NDIS participant and carer statement (notes the participant's current situation and needs);
  • Templates for the participants daily schedule and goal development; and
  • Information about younger onset dementia for the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).

A short video featuring carers and people living with younger onset dementia is also available to complement the toolkit.

To download the toolkit and view the video, go to the Dementia Australia website.
