Price Guide Update: Short-term accommodation

The pricing changes for short-term accommodation will take effect today, 30 October 2017. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) has released the updated 2017/2018 Price Guide for NDIS service providers. The new rates will be variable, reflecting the higher wages payable at weekends and public holidays, and take into consideration the level of support required by some participants.

The NDIA has increased the price limits for short-term accommodation, following feedback from participants and providers. The pricing increase will assist in ensuring short term accommodation service providers remain financially sustainable.

Dr. Ken Baker, Chief Executive of peak body National Disability Services (NDS) supports this change. He believes this pricing update will help prevent the closure of some short-term accomodation providers.

“The NDIA deserves credit for responding to the critical issue of short-term accommodation.

“The closure of respite services would have been disastrous for families and people with disability. Swift action was needed to avert this serious risk.”
