Western Australia Joins NDIS

Today the Australian and Western Australian Governments announced that the State will be joining the federally-run National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), following the WA NDIS trial implemented by the WA Government. This means that the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) will now be responsible for rolling out the NDIS in all Australian states and territories.

From 1 July 2018, the NDIA will manage NDIS delivery in WA. The scheme will be rolled out geographically across the state, with the rollout expected to be completed by 2020. New participants will be able to join the NDIS as it becomes available in their area.

Current WA NDIS participants will transfer to the nationally-delivered NDIS in a phased approach from April 2018, concluding by December 2018. The WA Government will contact these participants for instructions.
