Nutrition and Unexpected Weight Loss

Nutrition and Unplanned Weight Loss is a one-hour workshop looking at recognising and responding to nutrition risks, and recommending ways to manage these to help prevent malnutrition.

Learn how to assess, investigate and respond to nutrition risks and improve the quality of life for the people you support.

  • Know the sign and symptoms of unplanned weight loss and malnutrition
  • Be aware of the causes of unplanned weight loss and malnutrition
  • Learn how to assess unplanned weight loss and develop effective risk management strategies whilst waiting for specialist input
  • Gain case study practice on investigating weight loss, developing just in time risk management strategies and monitoring improvement

This workshop is in partnership with Preventing Harm Initiative (PHI) and is facilitated by Marie Daws Denley. Marie is an experienced Infection Prevention and Control Manager and Quality Assurance Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the hospital and care industries. Skilled in Quality Management, Quality Assurance, Infection Prevention and Control, Clinical Governance, Staff immunisation, and Quality System.

Who should attend?

NDS recommends that anyone who has oversight or supports someone with their meals and nutrition planning within disability service organisations are most suited to attend.
