New NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission Website

The new NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission website is now live.

The NDIS Commission was established to improve the quality and safety of NDIS supports and services. From 1 July 2018, the independent agency will begin to operate progressively across Australia, starting in NSW and South Australia. Until then, current state or territory quality and safeguards requirements will continue to apply.

Check the map for when the agency will start operating in your area.

Some of the main differences in responsibilities and functions of the NDIS Commission and the NDIA are outlined below:

NDIS Commission

  • Collaborate with states and territories to design and implement nationally consistent NDIS worker screening.
  • Respond to concerns, complaints and reportable incidents, including abuse and neglect of NDIS participants.
  • Monitor compliance against the NDIS Code of Conduct and Practice Standards.

NDIA

  • Deliver the NDIS (provision of individualised plans and support to people with disability; coordination of service bookings, payments and provider's access to plans).
  • Handle NDIA and participant plan complaints.
  • Register and regulate NDIS providers until the NDIS Commisson begins operating in the area.
